At some point, approximately 1976, 61-02418 was transported to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Impact Dynamics Research Facility (IDRF) at Langley Air Force Base (AFB), Virginia. The aircraft was utilized in the CH-47 Crash Test (T-40) Structural, Cargo Restraint, and Aircrew Inflatable Restraint Experiments. T-40 took place on 4 August 1976 with release at 1430:0.0381.
