65-08025 (originally 65-8025), Boeing build number B-197, was a CH-47A helicopter. The U.S. Army acceptance date was 1 June 1966. The administrative strike date was 8 May 1976. 65-08025 accumulated at least 3,335.0 aircraft hours as of 8 May 1976. On or about November 1972, 65-08025 was transferred to the 247th Vietnamese Air Force (VNAF), in the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) and was captured by North Vietnamese Forces at the close of hostilities. This aircraft has been photographed by several individuals and is often confused with 66-19025 or 70-15025. Click-N- Go on those tail numbers to find out their disposition. For correct tail number identification, examine the data plate in the left chin bubble area outboard of the pilot's pedals (see image below). The serial number (tail number), manufacturer's construction number, contract number and the acceptance date is on that data plate. The painted number on the airframe is sometimes misleading for various reasons. As of June 2005, the last known location of 65-08025 was in Vietnam on display at Khe Sanh Battle Field, old demilitarized zone (DMZ) Area, Central Vietnam, July 2008. Aircraft status: Museum. |
