69-17111, Boeing build number B-626, was a CH-47C helicopter. The U.S. Army acceptance date was 28 May 1970. 69-17111 accumulated 1,953.0 aircraft hours. At some point, 69-17111 was assigned an unknown unit in the Republic of Vietnam. At some point and through the mid 1980s, 69-17111 was assigned to the 179th Assault Support Helicopter Company - "Shrimp Boats" located at Butts Army Airfield, Fort Carson, Colorado. While assigned to the 179th ASHC, 69-17111 was flown to Beaumont, Texas. The aircraft was prepared for ship board transport and loaded onto an unknown vessel at Port Arthur, Texas, and transported to Honduras, Central America. While in Honduras, 69-17111 was assigned to Joint Task Force Bravo (JTF Bravo) and operated out of Camp Black Jack on Palmerola Air Base (Sota Cano) near Comayagua. It was also operated out of San Pedro Sula. Upon completion of the mission, 69-17111 returned to Fort Carson. On 18 January 1985, 69-17111 was inducted into the D model program and converted to 85-24328. The last known location of 69-17111 was at Boeing during the conversion.
