GOGGLES WILL COMPLETE THE SURVEY AT "WWW.ANVISSURVEY.COM" NLT 1
SEPTEMBER 2002. COMMANDERS WHO ARE UNABLE TO COMPLY WITH THIS
REQUIREMENT WITHIN THE TIME FRAME SPECIFIED WILL UPGRADE THE
AFFECTED ANVIS STATUS SYMBOL TO A RED //X//.
(2) WHEN CONDUCTING THE SURVEY, SEPARATE ENTRIES WILL BE
ANNOTATED IN THE SYSTEM HISTORICAL RECORDS CONCERNING IMAGE
INTENSIFIER TUBE DATA.
(3) AN UPDATED SURVEY WILL BE SUBMITTED NLT 14 DAYS OF -

(1) THE ONLY VERSION OF NIGHT VISION GOGGLES AUTHORIZED
FOR USE BY ARMY AIRCREW MEMBERS IN ARMY AIRCRAFT ARE THE AN/AVS-
6(V) SERIES.
(2) IMAGE INTENSIFIER TUBES - REBUILT/REFURBISHED IMAGE
INTENSIFIER TUBES ARE NOT AUTHORIZED FOR USE. UNITS WILL NOT
PURCHASE OR USE REBUILT IMAGE INTENSIFIER TUBES FROM ANY SOURCE.
ADDITIONALLY, TUBES IDENTIFIED AS UNSERVICEABLE AT AVIM OR
DIRECTORATE OF LOGISTICS (DOL) WILL NOT BE RECERTIFIED AS
SERVICEABLE BY ANY AGENCY NOT DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY (PM SOLDIER

(B) SHINE THE SUPPLEMENTAL LIGHT ONTO THE MATERIAL.
WITH THE UNAIDED EYE, LOOK AT THE RESULTANT REFLECTION CAST ON
THE WINDSCREEN.
(C) OBSERVE THIS SAME REFLECTION THROUGH THE ANVIS.
AN ACCEPTABLE SUPPLEMENTAL LIGHT SOURCE WILL ALLOW NVG AIDED
VISION THROUGH THE REFLECTION. THE REFLECTION MAY EVEN
DISAPPEAR.
(D) IF THE REFLECTION, GLARE, OR STRAY LIGHT
INTERFERES WITH THE ANVIS AIDED VISION OF ANY CREWMEMBER THE
LIGHT SOURCE IS UNACCEPTABLE.

RANGE PERFORMANCE WITH LITTLE TO NO DEGRADATION OF THE ANVIS
PERFORMANCE WHEN DIRECTED THROUGH THE HELICOPTER WINDSCREEN.
(4) AT THE DISCRETION OF THE PC, LASERS OTHER THAN CLASS
I NEAR-IR MAY BE USED IN THE CARGO/PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF UH-1,
UH-60, CH-47, OR OH-58 AIRCRAFT IAW THE UNIT SOP. THE PC WILL
INCLUDE THE USE OF LASER POINTERS IN THE AIRCREW MISSION AND
PASSENGER BRIEFINGS.

CIVILIAN TECHNICIAN OR A DESIGNATED MOS 35R GRADUATE.
(B) AVIM COMMANDERS WILL DESIGNATE, IN WRITING, A
PROPERLY TRAINED AND QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL TO CONDUCT AVIM ANVIS
MAINTENANCE QUALIFICATION TRAINING. THE DESIGNATION OF
MAINTENANCE QUALIFICATION TRAINERS WILL BE IAW AR 750-1.
(C) AVIM ANVIS MAINTENANCE QUALIFICATION TRAINING
WILL CONSIST OF EACH APPLICABLE TASK IAW TM 11-5855-263-23&P.
(2) PERSONNEL CONDUCTING CONTINUITY CHECKS ON ANVIS
MOUNTS INSTALLED ON FLIGHT HELMETS WILL BE TRAINED IAW TM 11-
5855-263-23&P.
(3) AVIATORS CONDUCTING DISTORTION EVALUATIONS WILL BE
TRAINED IAW TM 11-5855-263-23&P AND DESIGNATED BY THEIR COMMANDER
IN WRITING. THE ANVIS MAINTAINER WILL MAINTAIN THE RECORD OF
DESIGNATION.
(4) ANVIS MAINTENANCE TRAINING WILL BE CONDUCTED IAW FM
25-100, FM 25-101, AND LOCAL SOP. ACTIVE COMPONENTS WILL CONDUCT
SUSTAINMENT TRAINING ON AN ANNUAL BASIS. RESERVE COMPONENTS AND
ARNG WILL CONDUCT SUSTAINMENT TRAINING AT LEAST EVERY TWO YEARS.
INITIAL AND SUSTAINMENT TRAINING AT AVIM WILL BE CONDUCTED BY AN
ANVIS QUALIFIED CECOM AVIONICS LAR OR AN INDIVIDUAL TRAINED IAW
AR 750-1, PARA 2-28 C AND E AND DESIGNATED BY THE COMMANDER. IN
THE CASE OF ARNG, THE TRAINING WILL BE CONDUCTED BY AN AVCRAD
DESIGNATED TRAINER. THE TRAINING WILL CONSIST OF, AS A MINIMUM,
HANDS-ON TRAINING OF ALL TASKS THE MAINTAINER IS AUTHORIZED TO
PERFORM. AVIM LEVEL TRAINING WILL ALSO INCLUDE DEMONSTRATED
PROFICIENCY OF PRECISION SOLDERING TECHNIQUES. THE TRAINER WILL
DOCUMENT THE COMPLETION OF THE TRAINING ON A MEMORANDUM TO THE
UNIT COMMANDER IDENTIFYING THE TASKS THAT WERE TRAINED. THE
COMMANDER WILL INITIAL THE "MEMORANDUM FOR" LINE TO ACKNOWLEDGE
RECEIPT. A COPY OF THE ACKNOWLEDGED MEMORANDUM WILL BE
MAINTAINED BY THE MAINTAINER ALONG WITH ALL OTHER MAINTAINER
TRAINING DOCUMENTATION AND ORDERS.
H. BATTERY AND POWER PACK ASSEMBLY (BATTERY PACK) -
NOTE
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, THE BA-5567/U
LITHIUM BATTERY IS NO LONGER AUTHORIZED
FOR USE IN ANY ANVIS. THIS
