During the Summer of 2001, personnel from the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) set out to the northern frontier to collect dinosaur specimens along the Colville River. Weather in the area took a turn for the worse and placed the team in danger. Luckily, a Chinook from B Company - "Sugar Bears North", located at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, was out and about on a training mission. When they crossed paths with the stranded researchers in dire straits, the Sugar Bears provided assistance in transporting priceless fossil specimens and other equipment, as well as some of the team members.
