U.S. Army CH-47A helicopters 64-13136 (B-108), and 64-13148 (B-120) were purchased by Thailand at some point in the late 1970s. 64-13140 (B-112) may have been purchased as well, but this data is unconfirmed. 64-13140 was in Thailand at some point during the Vietnam conflict. |
64-13136 was spotted at Lop Buri (north of Bangkok - see map) in November 1995 and was a essentially a derelict. 64-13136 was last spotted at the entrance to the Lop Buri Army Maintenance Battalion in 1996, but had disappeared again by August 2002. |
64-13140, at one point, was assigned to B Company - "Longhorns", 228th Assault Support Helicopter Battalion (ASHB) - "Winged Warriors" when that unit was deployed to the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam). 64-13140 was crewed by Arnold B. Christensen and Larry Campbell from 1965 to 1966. At some point, 64-13140 deployed to Thailand and may have been purchased by Thailand, but this data is unconfirmed. At some point, 64-13140 was returned to Boeing for D model conversion and became 84-24154, initially assigned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky. |

All of the Royal Thai Army Chinooks were new build airframes, not conversions of previous models. |
Tail numbers 90-111, 90-222, 90-333 were exported from the United States of America to Thailand on or about 23 July 1991. 90-444 was exported from the USA to Thailand on or about 16 September 1991. At some point, 90-444 appears to have been re-serialed as 90-999 for no immediately obvious reason. 90-777 and 90-888 were exported from the USA to Thailand on or about 17 June 1992. 90-222 was spotted at Don Muang International Airport, located 22 kilometers (15 miles) from the center of Bangkok, in January 1996. 90-888 was spotted in Thailand as late as January 1999. 90-777 was spotted during the Centenary of Flight show in Bangkok in October 2003. |

90-222 is not to be confused with 90-00222, which was manufactured for the U.S. Army and was last known to be assigned to the U.S. Army Reserve, located at Paine Field in Everett, Washington, prior the units move to Gray Army Airfield, Fort Lewis, Washington. |
Note: Royal Thai Army aircraft are usually marked by the Thai characters which can be translated as the letters "t.b.", an abbreviation for "tahan bok", translated into english as Army. |
Note: The Royal Thai Army CH-47D variants were not given the standard 2 x 5 digit or 2 x 4 tail number as were most of the U.S. Army Chinooks. They were given a 2 x 3 numbers. |
